Nobody wants to wear dirty and grimy shawl, to remove Dirt and Debris from your Shawl it's recommended to bring it to a professional dry cleaner. Professional drycleaner knows well how much care is required for cleaning such a delicate fabric. However, this does not necessarily mean that cleaning involves complicated steps. You can do it by yourself at home with a good quality cleanser specifically manufactured for silk or delicate fabric.

The shawl is simply one of today's most common fashion accessories that aids in projecting a sense of elegance and sophistication for the wearer. It was commonly used in formal evening wear during formal social gatherings but has now transcended such limitations. We now see shawls and scarves as major adornments in the career woman's attire today.

As it is an important piece of the career woman's wardrobe, cleaning it becomes a major concern especially if the dirt is so stubborn to remove. Of course, there are always laundry shops that can take on the job for a price but you would not entrust your cashmere garment on somebody else's hand, would you? Here are quite a few suggestions on how you can remove the dirt and debris from your cashmere shawl.

If the dirt is moist, do not immediately rub off the dirt and debris without soaking the whole garment in warm or cold water for at least three to five minutes. This is necessary to dissolve the components of the dirt and loosen them from the fibers of the woolen garment. Assist in the removal of the dirt and debris by gently squeezing the garment and rinsing them with water.

It is best to soak dirt-laden shawls and scarves in a solution of mild soap or liquid detergent and warm or cold water. As much as possible do not use a detergent that contains bleach or harsh chemicals because these can damage the natural mountain goat fibers of these garments. If you need to be more reliable, buy a wool cleaner solution as these can naturally cleanse woolen fibers.

In washing shawls and scarves, do it by hand and never by washing machine. The fibers of an original and authentic cashmere garment are often hand spun and hand woven such that they can easily get disorganized and damaged. The agitator blade of washing machines although spinning gently can damage these delicate fibers.

Do not wring or twist shawls the way we normally do with other clothes being washed. In order to rinse the garment, it is advisable to just soak it in warm or cold water a few times before gently squeezing the excess water off. Remember squeezing is not the same as twisting. Do this a couple of times until the water no longer has traces of soap suds in it.
Following these very simple guidelines to the removal of dirt and debris in your valuable shawl can greatly improve its quality and its overall usability.
